Abstract

The ESP Section within the ELTA National Conference will bring together practitioners of English for Specific Purposes to present their work and exchange ideas. The emphasis will be on the practical rather than the theoretical, concentrating on how ESP teachers teach in their classrooms today. Workshop proposals regarding all aspects of ESP and general linguistics that relate to ESP are invited.  Subject areas may include, but are not limited to: Business English, English for Medicine, English for Engineering, Legal English, English for Tourism, etc.  Apart from workshops, there will be round tables for areas of common interest.  During the round tables, participants will be expected to introduce themselves with information about their current (or future) ESP work, concentrating on the materials they use and the issues they face in the classroom.
