Abstract


The study aims at exploring the ways in which newspapers can be used as materials for teaching English to the engineering students in Pakistan. 72 activities have been suggested in which English newspapers can be used for teaching different rudiments of English communication skills such as spoken English, presentation skills, writing skills, study skills and vocabulary building etc. It can be concluded that newspapers can be employed as very effective source to teach English as a second language because they comprise of a variety of text types.
