Abstract

Traditional feedback on second language writing in an EAP context can incorporate many different messages and modes, and seems to benefit from a flexible, multifaceted and contextualised approach. The submission of student writing through online platforms provides tutors with even more feedback options. As part of the ongoing process of determining good online feedback practices, this Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) project evaluates interventions regarding the blending of offline and online feedback in an English for Academic Purposes programme at a UK university. Student and tutor perspectives on the implemented processes are considered, highlighting the respective strengths of both offline and online interactions and informing the discussion about how to combine these into feedback that is as pedagogically rich as possible.
