Abstract

In this article, the author argues that approaches to learning may need to be more efficient and gratifying to students now than in earlier periods in teaching history. She then juxtaposes Just-in-time learning, often characteristic of VESL/EOP learners, with Just-in-case, more commonly found in traditional educational institutions. After noting some of the pros and cons of each type, she suggests ways that EAP, and especially EAP writing, might balance the two.
